The Project
This project has 5 main objectives, outlined in the following, which will be achieved through the completion of activities organised in 5 work packages (WPs).
- Objective 1 (WPs 1 – 3):To inspire society by enhancing people’s appreciation of the importance of engineering research in modern life, and to help them value the positive impact that engineering applications have on their daily lives.
- Objective 2 (WPs 2, 3): To attract young minds to a career in engineering and physical sciences, showcasing the variety of jobs available in the sector, the challenges and the rewards in the lifestyle of modern-day engineers and scientists.
- Objective 3 (WP3): To attract people belonging to underrepresented categories in engineering and physical sciences by involving role models that tell exciting success stories and convey a clear sense of inclusion.
- Objective 4 (WP4): To interact with young minds, parents and teachers through a vibrant and effective engagement programme of activities aimed at enhancing collaboration between society, academics and industry to tackle the engineering skills shortage in UK.
- Objective 5 (WP5):To sustain PLACINGS beyond the end of EPSRC funding.
